I hope that in sharing some of the classic failures and successes in my life I am able to demonstrate that if I have been able to rebound from adversity anyone can. I will attempt to avoid mundane details but allow me discretion here and there. Before I continue I would like to mention that the links on this website are designed to take you to providers of services and products that you might require that are associated with self-improvement and motivational success. If you can suggest others then I would be keen to hear from you and add them to the links listed. Take the risk of investigating one of these links. It might offer you the opportunity to remedy your perceived problem, expand your horizons or offer a stepping stone to a future career.
You will also note a link on this website to a very personal friend of mine, Dr Bruce Copley who has pioneered a systems approach to learning and thinking known as COGMOTICS. Bruce has touched my life in a way of lateral thinking. He has fearlessly broken away from recognized thought which is a lonely and difficult path to tread in the academic world, to establish himself as a leading thinker in his field. I recommend that you access his website through the link and open up an exciting and entrepreneurial thought trend to add to your own motivation and self-development.
I do not consider that my personal life will be all that interesting
to you although I have experienced the most fulfilling experiences.
I have traveled extensively in Southern Africa, worked in agriculture
in a range of operations from, beef, tobacco, pigs, bees, chicory,
pineapples, poultry and diary. I have ocean fished commercially in
the bad times, developed innovative new methods in dairy pasture farming
and established a highly successful economics group. I have owned
a light manufacturing business and spent an exciting and wonderful
few years building race cars and motor racing on the Southern African
racing circuits.
I learned to fly, invested in a small fleet of marine containers and
developed two small shopping centres. I taught myself technical analysis
linked to trading equities in the stock markets and made a satisfying
amount of money doing so. In fact it is a passion of mine still and
the most exciting and fulfilling activity. Something you can do until
the final bugle! Over the last few years I also attempted with partners
to establish an Irish restaurant chain in Chicago, USA, and a rubber
products business in Melbourne, Australia. I am almost 70 years of
age soon. I am fortunate that I can combine my passion for stock market
investing with my present activities. I am creating this website with
the skilled technical help of my daughter so that I can share with
you the major failures and achievements of my life in the hope that
others may realize that if I am able to rise from the ashes of adversity
and failure, anyone can.
My experiences continue: the first disaster I experienced was
in chicory farming. I had spent three years in getting to the stage
where the debts of my first two crops had been paid for and this third
crop was payday. The week before harvest started the rains came and
brought the biggest floods ever that completely wiped out the bumper
crop. I started over to rebuild capital which took three years. I
cannot recall how I survived but I did!
The next disaster occurred when I was a farm manager in Zimbabwe
in 1958. After initial experience and training I was allocated a share
in the crop by the owner a few years later. I invested every cent
in the project.
